Preserving the historical account of the Burning of Quitman MS and the Texas Hospital by Union Troops in 1864 is our dedicated mission. Each year, on the third weekend in February, Archusa Creek Water Park becomes the stage for an authentic reenactment, immersing participants in the intricate details of this significant chapter from the American Civil War.

The portrayal unfolds with meticulous attention to historical accuracy, inviting attendees to step into the past and witness the vivid recreation of events that transpired on October 3, 1864. Union soldiers, as part of a broader campaign, orchestrated the burning of Quitman, Mississippi —a pivotal Confederate supply center.
