Ohio, US
On April 29, 1813, the soldiers stationed at Fort Meigs found themselves surrounded by British forces and their Native American allies for two days. This event marked a crucial turning point in the history of our nation and state. The First Siege of Fort Meigs helped secure the Ohio frontier and set the stage for a series of American victories. General William Henry Harrison, in anticipation of the attack, rallied his troops with the words, "To your posts then, fellow Soldiers, and remember that the eyes of your Country are upon you!"
To commemorate this historic event, Fort Meigs will host re-enactors from all over the United States and Canada, who will recreate authentic military camps and tactical demonstrations. Visitors can witness firsthand the musket and cannon demonstrations, battle re-enactments, and engage in hands-on activities, immersing themselves in this important period of history.
