Roscrea, Co. Offaly, Ireland
Leap Castle is a Medieval haunted castle in Coolderry, County Offaly, Ireland. It was built by the O'Bannon clan and was originally called "Léim Uí Bhanáin".
There is evidence that it was co-located with another ancient stone structure, possibly for ceremonial purposes, and the area has been continuously inhabited since at least the Iron Age and possibly from the Neolithic period.
During the restoration of the castle in the 1900s, workers found Oubliette behind the walls of the chapel. At the bottom of the shaft were many human bones piled on wooden spikes. After cleaning up, it took 3 carts to remove the bones.
